A little bit about names, in some cultures, the first Roman letter of the name is chosen based on the birthdate and time of birth. In Chinese society, though not every Chinese family practices it, the time and date of birth could be used to determine the number of strokes in a name. Going into more detail, an astrology chart could be drawn up to determine the balance of the five elements (of wood, fire, earth, metal and water) and a missing element to be included into the name to balance life's fortune, so to speak. In traditional families even today, names are given following a scheduled pattern to carry on the lineage.
