Painting of 103 Famous People - Discussing The Divine Comedy With Dante

Remember the Friday Frolics post on famous people? Today, Manish of India left a comment on the post and sent me an email requesting for the name-list. I decided to help him find the answer.

You would want to know too, wouldn't you? But before I let you in on the list, a little credit to the artists is in order, don't you think?

This oil-on-canvas extraordinary painting by little-known-Taiwanese artists Dai Dudu, Li Tiezi and Zhang An (who appear in the top right of the picture - click on image to enlarge it), has become the latest internet hit - with people naturally fascinated by the challenge of trying to identify all 103 famous people who are gathered for what appears to be the ultimate dinner party.

Completed in 2006, it is titled Discussing The Divine Comedy With Dante .

If you would like to know more about each personality, click on the image map that has titles and wikipedia links. You will also be able to see a bigger image of the painting making it easier to identify the personalities. Delightful.
