September 11, 2001

Thought I'd commemorate 9/11 with a blog entry.

Five years have passed since that fateful day on September 11, 2001. I remember seeing the incident on CNN thinking that it was just a staged documentary.

Today, sadly there has not been much difference as violence is still being employed to settle differences among nations. At the rate we are going looks like mankind will never get to experience total peace.

Bush vows never to forget Sept. 11 lessons

By Tabassum Zakaria
NEW YORK (Reuters) - President George W. Bush made a pilgrimage to New York's Ground Zero on Sunday on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks and said he would never forget the lessons of that day.

The somber Bush and his wife, Laura, laid wreaths at Ground Zero, attended a prayer service nearby with families who lost loved ones, then shook hands with firefighters at a firehouse near where the World Trade Center's twin towers had stood.

  1. How could Bush ever forget 9/11...the fire was raging hot, unlike those in the bush...and it all occurred early in his term when his intelligence network was ambushed, leaving him a red, red blush.

Now why didn't I see this before...
Any way, peace is now a luxury...
One that I'd yearn for or to die for...
Violence has just taken a toll on me,
Just do not want any part of it

  3. We are all so bad.. If it wasn't this, it's that, and if it's not that, it's those... Where are all the good news?

  4. so much truth in Bush that lies.

Can 9-11 be prevented? People are asking now...

But yes, do give world peace a chance when each and everyone express true compassion.

  5. Joe, darn right and the world will never forget that too.

Z, peace is indeed a luxury.

LB, where have all the flowers gone?

Robin, world peace - will there ever be? Inner peace is more realistic and achievable.

  6. I find it ironic and somehow disturbing that none of my American friends (or me, for that matter) have made any mention of 9/11 on their blogs, but our overseas friends are making sure we don't allow ourselves to shove our heads too far into the sand.

Was Bush's intelligence network really "ambushed" or did it see the smoke and decide to look the other way? There have been and will continue to be so many arguments about this. We'll probably never know the truth one way or the other.

At any rate, that was undoubtedly the darkest event in American history to occur in my lifetime thus far...and I hope it doesn't get any worse.

  7. MM, probably people in the US are too hurt to want to remember it. I apologise if I caused you any sadness.

That could go down as one of the darkest events in modern history.
